one interesting thing about iroquoian languages is (to try to explain it in a non-technical way" they are much more verb-heavy and are more inclined to introduce each new thing being discussed as the subject of its own verb instead of jam-packing it all into one verb - an example of this from tuscarora has the sentence "and so when the British arrested General Porter, they left him tied up on an island" expressed in tuscarora as "and so it was, when they arrested him (the general), general porter, the british did it, they took him away, they left him on an island, they tied him up."
