Watching a professional speaker speak is a thing of beauty, when you know these things about "ahs" and "umms" and "errs"... and how to use your hands properly, body positioning, eye/attention direction, etc.

I used to train public speaking skills to executives, etc., who needed to present more professionally at conferences and other events. Public speaking is a craft that requires practice in multiple disciplines and skills.

That would have been interesting work. It's something I've always been very reluctant to "get into", but I've reached a point in my own work where I have to do it, and to be confident in doing so. Got any basic tips you can point me towards?

Take an acting class, or an improv class. Seriously. Getting comfortable on stage is what actors do, and those are the same skills you need to deliver a solid presentation.

Second thing to do is learn proper microphone skills. That can be done either working with a professional voice trainer (I'm a voice actor, as well), or with any competent sound man/person.

That's the short version.... but there's a LOT of stuff to unpack in there, and deliver via demonstration, in person...

That's very useful advice. Thank you!
