We have had several great conversations on Hubski Re this song and it’s meaning over the years. Also, debates about whether songwriting is poetry etc, referring to Cohen as an example of how it is, of course.

I know lil and b_b are big fans.

Here’s one nice conversation.

Nice throwback thread. I think those are the hubski days people miss when they talk about missing the old hubski days. No politics. No current events. Just a really long thread about a song.

Fwiw, I don't blame any users for the change. I blame the world. We've been sucked into a vortex that keeps our collective mind fixated on the news. It's good to be reminded that it doesn't have to be that way.

I think it’s okay for us to be fixated on the news and politics. We are living in remarkable times. I can’t imagine people being criticized for talking about facism in the 40’s or the civil war in the 1860’s. The news these days is of consequence.

That said, I agree that the post I shared is a great example of Hubski at its best. Every Saturday we have a bonfire with another couple. About 50% of the conversation is politics, 20% of the convo is music/arts related, 20% travel and 10% science/tech. I think this would mirror my ideal Hubski these days.

I certainly miss the Hubski days where we call David Bazan a wuss, that was hilarious. What a great thread!
