This week I was introduced to Brown Sabbath which answers the question "What would Black Sabbath sound like with a horn section?" - there are 2 volumes and an EP Brownout are a 9 piece band and these are clearly a labour of love both for Black Sabbath and James Bond movie music with a horn section - yeah, definitely suggest a better description because I obviously suck at that. Here's a couple of tracks live on KEXP:
HUGE fan of Brownout! And I love that they add their own spice to the Sabbath songs. Anyone can play Sabbath note-for-note... I prefer it when someone brings something new to the party, like Brownout does. (They are also often included in my Spotify playlists that have Speedometer and the Monophonics and Vulfpeck... because they funky, too!)
Absolutely. What really struck me was how damn well those horns and rhythms were integrated into the alien terrain of proto-doom/metal. Just brilliantly done.
