Heh. Storage lockers are one of the first lessons you'll learn, then!

I used to be in the storage locker business. The ONLY people with shit in storage lockers are poor people, who are only getting poorer. There is nothing you own at 23 that is worth storing. I guarantee it.

Give the cool shit to your friends. (That way you will see it again, or get it back later when you come back to town, or want it again.)

Donate the rest to good causes. (It's a tax writeoff... which is completely useless for you at this age, but it's good to give stuff to good causes. That always pays off in many ways.)

If the sum total of replacing the contents of the storage locker is not 36x the monthly cost of the storage locker, you will lose money and damage your credit.

The ONLY people who come out ahead when they get a storage locker is the people who pay for 24 months in advance, and take everything out in the 22nd month. Like, if their entire house is being renovated/built. Everyone else loses.

RIGHT?!? :-D

When I was launching my marketing agency, I didn't have many clients at first, so had to pick up other jobs on the side that didn't interfere with my availability during normal business hours to meet with clients.

One of those was being the Ghost Tour Guide in Pike Place Market (nights, from 5-11:PM), and the other was a customer service rep on the phone for Door-2-Door Moving and Storage. It's one of those "pod" companies that delivers a container to your house, you fill it up, then they come take it away and put it in a warehouse. I worked the morning shift from 6:AM to noon, 3 or 4 days a week.

I was there for about 9 months or so, until they fired me for clicking the wrong button on the account screen one day. For the 5 previous months I had been Employee of the Month.

Absolutely brilliantly run company. NOT.

Oh! Right. Storage space for noise reasons, not for storage reasons.

There is some building in your town that you don't know about yet, that probably looks like an old meat-packing plant or brick warehouse or something, and it is in a totally shitty part of town, and has a weird variety of pickup trucks, vans, and Subaru Outbacks parked in front at 9:00 at night.

That's where all the bands have rehearsal spaces.

They are paying somewhere between $250 and $2000 a month to keep their equipment in a locked room, with (some) soundproofing, where they can practice/jam/make noise/whatever.

Every month, the bass player has to collect money from all the band members to pay for the space. Every month someone is short.

They can only get together about twice a week, due to everyone's schedules. So there are two other bands they co-rent the space with, and each band gets two days a week.

Almost all of these bands practice somewhere between 7:pm and 12:am on weeknights.

That leaves all daylight hours, and many Friday/Saturday nights where there is nobody in their rehearsal room, and it sits there dark and quiet.

If you pay them $50/month to be able to come in during off hours once in a while and turn it up, they will be STOKED. (Once they confirm you aren't a meth head, and won't steal their equipment.)

So do that. Go find those guys.

Also, talk to the drummer(s) and get their permission to turn off their snare. Otherwise you are going to have a lot of ambient annoying noise while you are trying to play.

Oof, but then I'd have to go back and read my own comments! It's bad enough you guys have to, why should I suffer too? ;D
