Listening to the Impeachment Hearings today on my way in to work, I got to listen to Devin Nunes be a complete idiot.
Williams: "I've been in Vice President Pence's office for 8 months."
Nunes: "Were you aware of the conversations in 2012 about Hunter Biden's appointment to Bursima's board of directors."
W: "No. I've been in the Vice President's office for 8 months."
N: "In 2014, did you know that..."
W: "No. I've been in my job for 8 months."
N: "When Tymoshenko, the President of Ukraine said in 2013..."
W: "No. I have been working for Vice President Pence for 8 months."
.... and on and on and on for 10 minutes of completely irrelevant questions, spoken to someone who had no knowledge of what he was asking about, to perform a circus act of performative obstruction, and waste the time/money of Congress and the American people.
What a fucking tool.
Someone said that a primary goal of republican questioning is to make the process as dull and unappealing as possible so that the public will tune out. Nunes' time this morning really seemed to hammer that theory home. It also seems notable to me that very little questioning actually contributes to a refutation of the accusations against Trump.
Nunes also went through a line of questioning designed to narrow down the whistleblower's identity. Schiff stepped in and advised against it, and then Vindman cited his personal counsel's direction that he should not answer questions in that vein, and declined to address any questions about the identities of individuals working in the intelligence community.
