Meritocracy, for what we may agree upon it’s meaning, appears to be the least worst system, at the moment, of achieving success. Markovits, it sounds, works really hard to describe a problem, yet no solution seems to be offered. Makes me skeptical. No major system is completely fair. It seems, more fair, though as we know more about a system. If we’re aware of the inequities in a system, and the inequities are consistent, is that system more or less now a fair system? At least through our understanding, it now appears to be consistent, or fairly set up with inherent inequities. Depending on where we start, a random draw, no one chooses their parents, everyone has a fair shot to make their way.
