It's hard to see how this situation is anything other than a near-monopoly forcing others to utterly disregard safe and reasonable working conditions and simultaneously shield Amazon from the inevitable consequences.
Amazon has clearly employed the "Air America defense" whereby everything is handled through shell companies/subcontractors in order to minimize legal exposure. They're doing the same with Amazon Marketplace and their warehouses. What I find interesting is a week after Buzzfeed ran with this, Propublica/NYT ran with their version.
