Really been enjoying vampire weekends new album. Been listening to The Beach Boys Pet Sounds. I have become pals with Mike Love from The Beach Boys nephew. I was at his place recently and someone had gifted him a record player. But he didn’t have any records yet. I sent him Pet Sounds and Vampire Weekends, “Modern Vampires..” record. Both are awesome records. Seemed appropriate given his uncle. Going to go see VW in Chicago soon!! Excited
Feel like you know everybody. Never really got into "Modern Vampires"- listened again last week to see if it sparked something new, but alas. The new one, though- I'm with you on that. Totally different songwriting, and the production is just incredible. Had it on repeat.
FotB is a very interesting album. It's so different to what I'd come to expect from VW, but I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure it will ever top Modern Vampires... for me, but then I've had 6 years to get to know that album and I still listen to it regularly. FotB is definitely growing on me.
Interesting. jonaswildman feels the same way as you. I love both albums. I feel like the latest one is almost too sentimental, but it gets saved by its production. It really is incredible. Much of the tools/tricks are perfected on this one that began on modern vampires, imo. Nice to hear from you!
