I will make a longer post, probably. But it's bad. Like really bad? And if makes me crazy? I'll give the one thing. This is a big spoiler.
This is a time travel movie. When they start talking about time travel, War Machine says they should kill baby Thanos. Hulk reacts like he's just suggested that they club a dog to death, not a man who killed trillions of people.
At the end of the movie Iron Man gets the gauntlet, and snaps both Thanos and his entire army, presumably everywhere? Out of existence. Just kills them, entirely.
Nobody ever talks. Nobody confronts the core problem with Thanos' plan. Nobody tries any sort of clever solution. Just nope. Murder everyone. Unless it's a baby. A million dead? Well that's war. But a baby? That's evil.
I hate these fucking movies.
Does anyone know if there is a way to view the redacted portion on mobile?
I just copy/paste then put it into google translate with them both set to english
Mobile? On my phone. I highlight and nothing happens.
Huh. On the one hand, I can understand why Apple would disable long-press entirely, as it provides a rather horribly user experience. But on the other hand, long-press allow a right-click equivalent, which is super useful. Wait, don't iPhones have that force touch thing, where you click harder and something else happens? Try that.
I enjoyed it, I've never really gone to see a superhero movie with the intention of deriving a whole lot from them beyond action, and some degree of a power fantasy. I thought they explain that time travel doesn't work like that? When Iron-man snaps Thanos and his army out of existence it is only from one timeline, with that in mind there would be a timeline where thanos is dead, and the snap never occurs. I mean there really aren't many clever ways to stop someone who believes themselves inevitable. I mean he is entirely unreliable and his concept was painted as flawed after Infinity War. Gamora's past reveals that Thanos' plan is batshit insane because Gamora is the last of her kind. Could there have been a more complex approach? Probably. The army that is wiped out of existence isn't actually made up of many sentient creatures at all. The Chitauri are created with the sole purpose of being organic war machines. I don't hate the movies because I guess I just go into them with a different perspective or set of expectations?
I enjoyed it. Is it a great movie? Nah. Is it fun? Sure. I went looking for fun and got what I paid for.
Somebody I follow on Twitter stated the "unpopular opinion" that Marvel's creation of a couple dozen "not-too-bad" superhero movies that tied together was actually a major artistic achievement. $4.6 billion spent. $20 billion earned. Tremors cost $11m. Bump that shit to $40m 'cuz it's been 30 years - you could still make a thousand movies of Tremors caliber for what has been invested in the Marvel Comics Universe.
I was afraid of that. I'm still planning to see it tomorrow, so I'm not reading your spoiler. It feels like an obligation more than anything. I reached superhero fatigue years ago, so I only watch these films in theatre if they get good reviews, and I usually leave disappointed. I watched Infinity War because it good good reviews, and because I felt like I should catch the ending to the whole saga. I was surprised and happy at the ending, when many of the heroes died, but when I noticed who were dying and who weren't, I started to catch on. They should have done us the courtesy that Kill Bill did and added Part 1 to the title.
I enjoyed it, but i walked in with low expectations because i wasnt a fan if the other avengers movies
I have no intention of seeing this film, as with a few exceptions, pretty much every Marvel Film after the first Avengers has been pretty disappointing. To your objection though, I think the philosophical argument boils down to whether or not it is morally acceptable to kill a man before he sins, knowing he will make a sinful choice. Baby Thanos is still an innocent baby, but adult Thanos is a genocidal tyrant and the army that chooses to follow him are also guilty because they actively support him. Then the second question becomes, whether or not it's morally acceptable to take one innocent life to save so many more. It's a shame they don't at least try to explore this, but I'm not surprised. It's a mainstream comic book movie after all. If you know you probably won't like them going in, why go? I've pretty much given up on Marvel and Star Wars both, which is great because I'm pretty much done with giving Disney any of my money since they acquired Fox (I've seen a few of the films, but either only on Netflix or at a friend's house). The fact that offerings in both universes have been very subpar just makes my choice easier for me. Have you seen any movies that you have enjoyed recently? I ended up finally seeing The Sisters Brothers last night, which I have to say on the one hand wasn't what the trailer for it depicted tone wise, but on the other hand, it was more than a halfway alright movie.I hate these fucking movies.
I can agree with that sentiment, but if you haven’t seen it yet, I really recommend Solo. It didn’t really get enough credit for how much i liked it. Its on Netflix so you might as well anyway yknow?
