“We were shocked because we didn’t understand how such a small matter like breast-feeding could provoke such a dramatic response,” said the Ecuadorean official, who asked not to be identified because she was afraid of losing her job.
How can such a small matter as breast-feeding provoke such a dramatic response?

Yes, obviously the edits to the resolution are directed by corporate interests. I also see it as part of the many ways legislative bodies involve themselves in controlling women.

Some countries ban women's face/head coverings. Some countries INSIST on certain body/head/face coverings for women.

I imagine there are countries where men must where a hat -- or are there?

Abortion? Well you know. By the way, Argentina just legalized abortion last month. I'm wondering if this was widely known by you.

ooops fell down the hubski-rabbit-hole again. and it's filling with water. I'll need to swim out.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious or you don't actually know.

Nursing has been the cornerstone of healthcare in the developing world for the past 40 years; the trend towards formula in the developed world was reversed because of the lack of bonding, immunological transference and nutrition but not before formula had become a huge business. When that trend met the developing world it also exacerbated water quality problems and labor force issues - nursing is a pain in the ass when you're trying to make a hard-labor living but mixing the Nestle formula with river water might not give your kid cholera so take those free samples. But then the samples aren't free and you can't afford it so you start cutting it 2, 3 to 1 and before you know it, you're killing a million babies a year.

The controversy over baby formula is not on par with the controversy over the chadoor. From a public health standpoint, it's as if the US wanted to remove reference to cigarettes being unhealthy.
