Interesting that the dems ran a sort of "republican-lite" candidate and won - this seems to be a mostly normal case of the President's party suffering in midterm season.

I dunno, man. Trump won that district by 20 points. The Dems didn't even field a candidate last time. "Mostly normal" seems a stretch, given the demographics. And if the Dems are Republican Lite. That's why they fought so hard against Bernie Sanders. If they can win a deep red district by acting slightly more purple than usual, the Republicans could have some dire problems come November.
