1) It's opt-in.

2) It's transparently obvious.

3) It isn't particularly utile, either.

I'll say this: when Google does shit like this, it's up front and unsurprising. There's nothing nefarious about it. Basically all they're doing is taking all the info they have on you already (because they remember your searches, etc) and giving it to you. So for example, if I search for "Destiny no land beyond" to find out about an exotic in-game sniper rifle, when I open google and start typing "no land" it will auto-complete "beyond" because it's what I've used most recently (as opposed to what most people search for).

Apple and Facebook do the same. Google already does. This is just an extra product they give you to encourage you to continue giving them the data they already collect.
