Thakur says the Google feed breaks you out of that, because it's based on the same search algorithm that crawls and ranks the entire Internet, not just what your friends share.

1) It's opt-in. 2) It's transparently obvious. 3) It isn't particularly utile, either. I'll say this: when Google does shit like this, it's up front and unsurprising. There's nothing nefarious about it. Basically all they're doing is taking all the info they have on you already (because they remember your searches, etc) and giving it to you. So for example, if I search for "Destiny no land beyond" to find out about an exotic in-game sniper rifle, when I open google and start typing "no land" it will auto-complete "beyond" because it's what I've used most recently (as opposed to what most people search for).
