Suppressors are not that quiet. They just protect you from noise that's deafeningly loud. You still probably want hearing protection when you shoot with them, just that your ears might not ring after every shot.

Absolutely. Anyone who has ever actually shot a gun with suppressor on it knows that, "Holy shit! That was loud! Is it broken/working?" question that blows through your mind afterwards.

And the ringing in the ears.

Suppressors have an excellent marketing department called Hollywood.
