Neither Dala nor I know what salt beef is. We politely demand a recipe. ;) Edit: Oh. Turns out it's corned beef. We love corned beef. Your friends are in for a treat. Edit 2: Would still love that recipe though.
It is so not corned beef, if you look up jiggs dinner pretty much every recipe is the same. I'm not sure how easy it would be to find the tubs of salt beef in America though, even in Canada most grocery stores only have like 2 at a time mainly around the holidays. Edit: after 3 hours of simmering I was successful ! I didn't let it soak overnight so it's a tad more salty than my childhood but such is life really.
