- “Think about it — not one criminal charge has ever been brought to any bank executive associated with 2008 crisis,” Bannon said. “And in fact, it gets worse. No bonuses and none of their equity was taken. So part of the prime drivers of the wealth that they took in the 15 years leading up to the crisis was not hit at all, and I think that’s one of the fuels of this populist revolt that we’re seeing as the tea party.”
He continued, “[T]he underpinning of this populist revolt is the financial crisis of 2008. That revolt, the way that it was dealt with, the way that the people who ran the banks and ran the hedge funds have never really been held accountable for what they did, has fueled much of the anger in the tea party movement in the United States.”
Do you agree with this former Breitbart editor's claim that: If you agree, what do you think the end result will be? I have a sense that increasing tribalization is bad, even if understandable in the context of our planet becoming much more interdependent, as one would expect some pushback. I just don't see a way out of it, other than a third-act catastrophe that causes us all to magically resolve our differences. But even that seems unlikely--we can't even agree that global warming is man-made.All I can say is that tribal politics on the far left has created an upsurge in tribal politics on the right. Which doesn't mean that all of the people who voted for Trump are involved in tribal politics, but it does mean that the sort of tribal language we've seen in recent years has spread across the aisle.
I agree with Bannon on something. That's news to me. I like this little silver of such an ugly, obnoxious, and destructive cloud. Either Trump will ignore Bannon or he won't. I see both as positives. The first will expose Trump (and possibly Bannon) as a cynical crony, and the second will change Wallstreet for the better.
My Facebook feed is full of liberal friends arguing that Trump is literally Hitler because he said this one off-hand thing or that off-hand thing. I, on the other hand, have seen no reason to think that Trump thinks Trump is serious about most of the shit that comes out of his mouth. I'm not at all worried about a rogue ideologue grasping the levers of power. I'm worried about an egocentric manchild sitting at the levers of power, and the rogue ideologues telling him which way to pull. However, as I've said a few times, one side has to be nice to him in order to get their way. The other side need only be not so mean that he doesn't have an out. I've heard it argued that ideologically, Trump is a cent Democrat whose leanings are tempered by avarice. Thing about this election is you can't say that he won't get pissed off enough at Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan and decide fuck you, I'm an independent now.
I think we're all about to find out just how important this is. The thing is - there aren't enough rich people in the world to drive the rallies he needs. I might hypothesize that's where all the race-baiting came from in the first place.as long as people are cheering him for it.
Are you seriously going to do this? Or are you going to be a civil, thinking human being? Because here's what you said: So for starters, what does "emulate what Hitler was doing" mean to you? Because primarily what Hitler did was nationalize all industries, force ethnic minorities into ghettos and require them to wear identification and violate the Treaty of Versailles. That was before the invasion of Poland, of course. After that all sorts of fun started. Were there Nazi sympathizers in the US? Yeah. Did they offer full-throated support for all aspects of the Third Reich? See, this is the part where you could google some shit. You could even find out that the captains of industry who tried to overthrow the government had no real designs on aligning with Germany and that our most outspoken anti-semites were plenty troubling enough without you having to resort to "emulate what Hitler was doing." Because we didn't. At all. And if you thought about it, instead of slinging bullshit LMGTFY links at me to prove your ignorance, you might have learned something. I'll block you again. Happily. All you have to do is continue acting flippantly and insultingly in discussions in which we all deserve better. I seem to remember that at some point in American history there was even a movement in the US to emulate what Hitler was doing.
I dont believe it but If this one thing happens then I will regret NOT voting for trump and you might even see a Trump 2020 sign in my front yard. When it comes to wall street accountability im a single issue voter.Bannon said. “Trust me — they are going to be held accountable.”
I hesitantly want to agree with you, but my confidence is so low as to not even really think it's an issue. This is precisely because many of these people are Trump friends (or "friends," really). The question is what's in it for Trump to make this his issue? If you or anyone else could point me to how me might benefit personally, I'd be more apt to believe. Maybe putting richer people in jail is the ultimate "fuck you" to a person like him. Can't beat 'em at the financial game, so beat 'em at life??? Seems like a shallow reading, but I can't figure out what the deeper game might be.
