- In every part of the state, Democrats have found Latino voters who have not been active in recent elections or had voted for more moderate Republicans. Damian Alcazar, 46, was registered with the Republican Party and had backed the 2008 presidential bid of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). But by Friday night, when he stopped by a GOP get-out-the-vote rally in Aurora, he had already cast a ballot for Clinton.
“Trump’s way too risky,” he said.
In Colorado Springs, the center of the state’s largest Republican stronghold, Democrats were targeting and turning out Latinos. Over lunch at El Ranchito 2, a supermarket and restaurant, an entirely Latino clientele was divided between those who could not vote and those who had already voted for Clinton.
“The Democrats sent me mail, but I didn’t really need it,” said Jaime Valdez, 70. “I was going to vote for Hillary.”
Interesting story about Trump and Trump supporters. So we did a few "look through a telescope" things in the park downtown. On Sunday, the Nation of Islam was there with a loudspeaker. They've been there before; we share a walkway. We always invite them over to take a look as a courtesy, they like us there and let us be. (We draw a crowd that they get to work as a bonus.) On the Loudspeaker Sunday? Trump speeches. On the signs? "Negros stop being slaves!!! Vote Trump" yes, three "!" on the sign. Yea, that is a thing to add to the fucking #sillyseason nonsense. I had a moment where internally I giggled like a school girl as the conservative republicans of the club out with me had that moment of "da fuq" at the site of black people backing Trump while handing our Qurans, in Kentucky of all places. I've done a program with the NoI's version of the Boy Scouts which I find more than a bit hilarious. We were created to be devils, after all
