A friend of mine who got some kind of criminal justice degree did some research about setting traps. He told me that the main reason anti trapping laws were passed was to protect the police. I think you point about what would happen if a the authorities had open one of these or even if they just got caught in the blow back is a good worst case scenario. I'm pretty sure if they knew what they were dealing with they'd call out the bomb squad for shits and giggles.

If the company who makes this lock would guarantee coverage of all legal fees incurred by the normal use of this product than maybe I'd think about it. It's one thing to say you looked into it and it's allllll goooood, and quite another to put your money where your mouth is.

The part that stuck out to me was

Even better, it claims, the gas causes "shortness of breathing" and impaired eyesight.

I would not want to be liable for a bike thief with asthma or something choking on the stuff.

Or one who wandered out in front of traffic after getting blasted, with his imperiled eyesight and projectile vomiting. I guess I don't love my shitty beater bike enough to use this product.

I find most crowd funding projects entertaining in the same way infomercials are entertaining, except instead of "who would want this thing" it's "who in their right mind would want this thing."
