Why are scientifically derived words damn near the same color as slang words? WTF?

The years next to the words are how long they've been in use or how long they've been on the list? OMG has been on there for 94 years! I wonder how long WTF has been there? Is it even on the list? If not... wtf?

Who knew "wassup" has been a colloquialism for 109 years? It certainly didn't seem like it's been an entire century since Budweiser launched their Superbowl commercial campaign that inspired countless mullet-wearers to adorn themselves with t-shirts illustrating their brand loyalty throughout the pan-handle...but maybe it has. I don't have a very good memory.
