Drop it onto one of the poles on the moon and mine that sucker for its water and volatile gases and ices. It is cheaper to send water from the moon to earth orbit than from the surface of the earth to LEO. Dropping a iceberg like that on the south pole of the moon in one of the dark permanent shadows and all the sudden living in space gets a lot cheaper.
And that's not even crazy compared to a lot of ideas. Still extremely difficult to change the orbit of something that big to match the earth's & moon's.
There's a group of folks that call themselves something like "The Lunar Preservation Society" who want everything kept in pristine condition so as to glean meaningful information about early solar system history. The tug-of-war they'll be playing with colonists in the years to come is going to be interesting. And probably very short-lived. I'm all in on the colonists, if we're betting, but I'm neutral in my own feelings.
There are plenty of moons in this solar system, they don't have to be greedy with the good real estate. There's a group of folks that call themselves something like "The Lunar Preservation Society" who want everything kept in pristine condition so as to glean meaningful information about early solar system history.
Eh, it does make sense to ensure the survival of the species to our best abilities first and foremost.
