Wow. Zero replies so far! I'm not in the field of research myself, but much of this applies to the strategy of "He who should never become president".

Does it apply to him though? This article (at least how I read it) is not about blatant bullshit, but about the systemic subtle ways that malicious or selfish researchers can get away with writing nonsense. Totally different ball game.

It's definitely a different ball game, but many of the strategies appear analogous. I see that Trump is able to do the "Gish Gallop" whenever folks try to nail down his projected plans and policies. He makes up stories that go against the observed facts and still has a strong set of believers that do the same. Similar to the creation vs. evolution argument.
