I read him from c. 2010-14, then quit and can't bear to read this article. I didn't even know he quit blogging until yesterday. He was very anti-Iraq war after being very pro-war. He was very pro-ACA, other than it not being universal, single-payer, but I do not remember him being anti. Got a source? Perhaps his Oakeshottian pragmatism was overtaken by the realities of his personal health situation, which is hardly a principled approach.
