Thinking on this, I wonder if another option would be an ability to toggle 'share sensitivity'. That is, maybe shared posts only showed up in your feed after they had a certain # of shares, which you could set. If you set it at 100, you would never see shares, but if you set it at 1, you would see everything you do now.

That's kind of decent future proofing idea actually. As it is, global is pretty easy to deal with due to the low number of submissions. If traffic for this site ever really blows up, it'd be a good tool for feed management.

I'm not sure how this changes things. Right now, when a couple of popular people comment in a post, the shares are very high. Since those posts generally hit the front page, you would see them by default. That also means that only those posts that popular people comment on are seen.

From what I've seen here, posts are either very popular or not responded to at all. That's a generalization. There are a few posts that have a moderate interest. But most seem to fall on one spectrum or the other.

I was hoping for a way to follow someone(s) to see all of their posts, regardless of how popular it had become. That would allow me to see the unpopular posts of the people I follow. The only way I can do this now is to go into global mode and look for specific people's posts while trying to filter out the spam.

I don't know anything about coding, so I don't know if this would be difficult to do. I also don't know the user base that well, so I don't know if anyone else is interested in this.

I can see that. I was just talking to b_b, and he thought the approach I suggested was too complicated. I think we should start with a 'posts' and 'posts and shares' toggle for the feed, and we can see how it feels.

Thanks for your response and your responsiveness. I hope I'm not coming across as demanding. As a noob here, I don't have any right to be. I'm not expecting any changes on my account. I was just hoping to describe accurately what I was envisioning the new feature would look like. I apologize if it came across any other way.
