I didn't read it the same way. My read wasn't that the author is calling for humanity to make any drastic changes in what we do. For example, he says: I interpreted the piece as arguing the worst of what to come has already happened, like how he came to accept he was going to die. There isn't anything we can do to avoid it, but we can take steps to make it less painful, to prepare for worse storms, for food shortages.It won’t be addressed by buying a Prius, signing a treaty, or turning off the air-conditioning.
