- The former editor, Albert J. Daulerio, a defendant in an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit brought by the retired wrestler Hulk Hogan, was asked by the plaintiff’s lawyer where he drew the line when it came to posting videos of people having sex.
“Can you imagine a situation where a celebrity sex tape would not be newsworthy?” asked the lawyer, Douglas E. Mirell.
“If they were a child,” Mr. Daulerio replied.
“Under what age?” the lawyer pressed.
“Four.”
Gawker said later in a statement that Mr. Daulerio was being flippant.
Gawker are the sub-human scum that even Buzzfeed won't touch. Remember, this is the same company that published the list of every concealed carry and registered gun owner in NYC. This list included people who were being stalked, people hiding from violent family members, abusive Ex's and people hiding child sexual violence victims. Gawker outed a gay CEO Because, clickbait. I cannot find a link that does not track back to that sewer, but Denton is the guy on record stating that normal people do not have a right to privacy in the modern age, and that exposing their private lives liberates them. Meanwhile he lives in a gated community. Fuck Gawker. I hope Hulk Hogan wins the $100 million.
Ryan Holiday - who does PR for American Apparel and Tucker Max, mind you - blew maybe two chapters in Trust Me, I'm Lying on what a piece of shit Gawker Media is. I was actually linked to this by some weapons-grade snark from the spoiled children at Pando. They aren't wrong, but it's nice seeing the NYT slag on 'em.
I'm just reading through Trust Me, I'm Lying and haven't gotten to those chapters yet. Amazing book so far, I can't look online media the same again.
Solid observation. They seem to have this attitude to of being untouchable and liking to poke the bear until it bites. Anybody working on sites like that really. My favourite story involving shitty "reporters" was when a guy claiming to be a reporter for some right wing blog wasn't allowed into a press conference for the NDP government in Alberta. He went off about how he would sue and all until the NDP brought up that time he swore under oath he wasn't a reporter. I hadn't heard if he's still trying to sue but it felt very good that he was put in his place.
