I've used the random approach to making decisions for a long time. It's incredibly effective at revealing your hidden or obscured preferences. I think that's because we're mired in irrelevant trivia that's hard to ignore or let go. When you allow some random, external agent make your choices, you very quickly hone in on what's truly important to you. You just have to observe your reactions to the results, particularly your emotional state.
