Hey guys,

I want to re-watch Star Wars too soon! So how does this movie club thing work? Is there a short run down how things work?

Also, before watching the series, I'd suggest reading this

(beware: it sounds crazy, but it isn't!)

It sadly makes less sense if you follow the machete order and skip Ep 1.

Thanks!

I re-watch Star Wars quite regularly, I often will do the Machete Order. But I admit, this Jar Jar theory is part of the reason I'll be watching TPM again. I plan on going through the series considering some of the theories.

Overall I don't think the Jar Jar theory will be true, but I admit the entire thing is pretty well thought out, and has been fun to speculate about.

Ok so the movie club is basically broken down into a few threads a round.

First there's the voting thread where you can submit movie suggestions based on a chosen topic for that round. Last topic was "war movies" and we watched Paths of Glory.

After a movie is picked, I post a thread stating what movie was chosen, where it can be watched, and what times I'll stream it in the Hubski Movie Club Theater, which is just a page on a website that lets me stream videos and sync playback.

Then we have a discussion thread. The user with the most shared comment in the discussion thread will have an opportunity to pick the next topic for voting.

Then it just repeats.

We'll have another voting thread soon. I can add you to the tags so you get notified when a voting thread is posted and when the stream is coming up if you'd like.

The Star Wars showings are going to be a separate thing but will also play in the theater. It's looking like machete order is what's popular.

I see, thanks for the write-up :)

The streaming-session... how long is it announced in advance? SInce I'm from Europe, I assume I can't take part myself, because of the timezones, but maybe the announcement is like 2 weeks in advance, then everyone also has a chance to watch it themselves and then just join the discussion afterwards.

I think I'll subscribe to the tag for now and see how things work and if it even makes sense for me to participate (if I can't join the sessions and I don't have time to watch the movies, there's not really a point :D), but I'll keep it in mind!

Thanks :)

I only recently took over from the last user who ran it (who left the site) so I'm still trying to get the timing right. But ideally, they'll be about a week and a couple days between the announcement of what movie we're watching and the discussion thread.

Looking back at the last one. The movie was announced 9 days before the discussion thread came up. My next voting thread will probably be Monday, the movie chosen and announced on Wednesday or Tuesday evening here, streaming time set up for Sunday evening (NA) with the stream looping for a week, and the discussion thread going up the next Friday. Then repeating again the Monday after the discussion thread.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be able to help with the time zones for watching it with those who come at the scheduled time, but I've been letting the films stream on loop since the last one so you'll have opportunities to watch the stream for a few days after if you don' t have access to that specific film. Just won't be with those who watch it together (and so far only a few of us have done that. Hoping it grows).

I'll add you to the tag list. it's a small website so the club is hit or miss with activity, but we get some good discussions and comments sometimes. And I'd definitely like having more users to suggest films and offer their opinions.

Sounds good! Dunno if I can take part next time already (because I need to watch all 6 Star Wars :D) but maybe it's a film I know already :)

Thanks for explaining stuff, sounds good, I'll keep an eye on it
