I've been working on a shoe rack as part of my ongoing foray into woodworking

Super basic, but it's coming along nicely and looks pretty nice actually.

Research still sucks right now, but I'm transitioning into the phase of not really caring. It's too emotionally exhausting to put so much effort and time into something that gets ignored by people because of petty academic politics.

Sorry about this. I saw your pubski post last week too and it sounds like it's a really rough time right now.

Thanks. It's probably not that big of a deal in the long run but I'm thoroughly disenchanted for the time being.

Can you afford a table saw? Do you have room for a table saw? You need a table saw. I wish I had a table saw.

I don't have a table saw, or space for one, and probably can't afford one right now either. I am making use of Lowes' and Home Depot's "cut it for you" service when you buy their wood though.

That sucks. They don't give a shit and suck at cutting. At least get a miter saw.

God but that's the truth. And half the problem is they can't measure things. Luckily if you call them out on it usually they'll just keep retrying until you're happy-ish, at no extra cost. But if you bought the only piece of x by x wood in the entire store, you're fucked. There's no way they cut it right in one try.

The extent of their measurement skill is "Make it fit in my car."

Yes, that is on the list.
