I feel like I'm updating it daily at the moment. I'm not going to miss that. But yes, Flash evolved the internet experience remarkably. Only in the past few years have there been viable replacements.

I guess so. Then again, the actual Shockwave plugin (that fully supported 3D - it was Unity years before Unity) also disappeared, along with all of the amazing works on there (back when Shockwave had an actual contents website) because of security issues. Side note, anyone remembers the Havok Xtra tech demos?
