Lmao this author has never been in a house heated by a wood burning stove. That fireplace is probably big enough to heat the bedroom. Even then, There's an extra blanket on the bed in case the child gets cold.
Funny article. Since we're nitpicking the shit out of a children's book, I actually dug up my old copy of the book, and the artist has a screwy sense of perspective. Using this, the vanishing point is directly above the cow painting. But the problem is that if you draw a line from the wall corner, it will perfectly line up with the front of the drawer, which makes no fucking sense. Both the bed and the drawers are too "in." The bed in general looks kinda weird as far as perspective is concerned. I think the line where the back wall and floor meet is also not supposed to be a straight horizontal line.
Mental Floss on Goodnight Moon I think I remember reading somewhere that the crazy color palette of Goodnight Moon is related to the letterpress production process; rather than doing CMYK they did red green yellow and black. But I might be making that up.When Brown first sent the manuscript to Hurd, she included very few instructions, but did enclose a copy of Goya's Boy in Red for inspiration. Without much direction, it took Hurd three attempts to get the outlandish size and flatness of the room just as Brown imagined it.
