Ksssh, Captains log 1: Day 6, Month 7, Year 2015. The time is 14:05 o'clock.
Work is quite a bore today. Thankfully they somehow managed to drill far enough last night to displace the water with oil-based mud. As to how I'm still at a loss, running off of one pump isn't enough flow to push the cuttings. This was a risky maneuver, yet one that came with a great reward.
So far it's been a very slow day, sent in status of equipment, cleaned out low walls, even shoveled the cuttings stuck to loaders bucket out after fueling. Rig still drilling slow as they replace broken parts on pump one. At the rate it's going I do believe it won't be fixed until tonight. 12 hours of sitting around aimlessly.
With much downtime it has been decided, I shall stop saying , "I need to" and actually begin teching myself a new language. As always, Japanese pops into my head. It would be nice to understand anime instead of simply reading subtitles. It will also be enjoyable to pick up bits and pieces of the anime while learning, giving more motivation to continue down the long road ahead.
Research has been done, books and applications looked through, even structured the beginning of my plan to turn this dream into a reality. Have downloaded Tae Kims Guide To Learning Japanese and also TenguGo Kana from the Google Play store and have begun the journey.
With the plan to first learn the Japanese Kana, Hiragana is what I will learn first and transition into the Katakana after. The plan is to take it slow, learning to read, pronounce and write the Hiragana. I have printed a few practice sheets showing the order of strokes for writing and using TenguGo Kana as a tool to test each section with its quizzes. Tae Kims Guide to Japanese is generally what I will use after learning each section of the Kana. This may be a untraditional way of learning yet I believe it shall be more rewarding later on as having a strong foundation is the key to building. So I shall take the time and learn from the beginning rather than submerge myself into the complex Kanji.
Currently I have learned A I U E O and Ka Ki Ku Ke Ko. Tomorrow will be focused on learning Sa Si Su Se So and Ta Ti Tu Te To while studying the pronunciation and writing style of each I will continue to merge 10 more each day until I have the Hiragana chart memorised. Then Katakana is next while still brushing up on the Hiragana. I am interested to see how far I will be able to go and plan on using this as my journal.
