it's a really cool thought that we will be moving inward, towards a #globalbrain like scenario. theadvancedapes, is this your reasoning for why we don't see evidence of life beyond us? It could be that all of human life is eventually existing in a virtual space. We no longer reproduce biologically etc. Strange to consider.
Yes, I actually find it to be the most probable explanation for Fermi's Paradox. I discuss the difference between the expansion (4.1) and compression (4.2) hypothesis (I call it "compression" to separate "transcension" from some other local future possibilities) in the big history paper I've been writing (this is the working paper - the official one should be out soon-ish).
I thought you might. It seems to align well with some of the things you've talked about/written about in the past. What's up with the blog? Will The Advanced Apes be getting some new posts etc as you finish the paper? Have you considered posting more bite-sized articles from the paper for us non-scientists to digest? Good to hear from you pal. I hope you are well.
I think I have gone through, and in many ways I am still dealing with, various forms of information overload/fatigue. I may return to blogging one day, but at the moment I am focusing on my papers for GBI.
I understand. It's important to have balance, but I do think you are good at "blogging." I appreciated being introduced to new ideas via TAA.
And I do love blogging. But I do plan on publishing a book version of the paper I attached so when it is published I'm sure it will be like reading a book-long TAA blog or hopefully better!
Love listening to Jason Silva talk about crazy concepts. Heard him on the Joe Rogan Experience years ago and have always been a fan. Some things he says are quite looney but viewed purely as entertainment, is such a great experience. Follow him on Twitter for some solid ideas/discussions he has as well as retweets.
