The bank has defrauded everyone from investors and insurers to homeowners and the unemployed. So why does the government keep bailing it out?
Exactly why I switched to a credit union. That and the lower fees and better customer service.
Vote with your money people. It's a real shame that we didn't follow the bailout up with meaningful financial reform. I'm not philosophically opposed to the bailout had we regulated heavily in the aftermath. All we did was socialize the losses and privatize the gains.

I still have my BofA account from when I first moved from LA to NYC for uni. I want to change but the nice thing about being with a big bank is they are everywhere and I could always access money in case of emergency or whatever. My parents could easily transfer money within a matter of hours in case anything happened. Now that I'm in Oz, I can withdraw from a WestPac bank with only a 1% fee + exchange rate because they have a mutual agreement with them. If I were to withdraw money from another bank here it would be something like 5$ fee + 3% service charge + the Oz banks service charge. If I were to move back here I would obviously just get an Oz bank account, but where are bicoastal people supposed to keep their money?

Very true. I think I'll be in LA for a while when I get back so I'll just put it all in a credit union and do my research to figure out what happens when I need to get money out in NYC or NC.
