I largely agree. However, I think Graham overlooks a very important aspect: mean people have to suffer a mean existence. IMO that is failure in of itself. We too easily overlook happiness as a measure of success.

That may be, but I wouldn't argue that not being mean is enough to make you happy, only that being mean can make you miserable. Success can be measured in a number of ways, but Graham seems to only be considering success in business. I know many successful people that aren't mean. However, most of these people are not business people.
