Not entirely sure why I ended up reading DN-01 reviews. Perhaps because I was looking at Gurney Alligators the other day and just can't stomach a V-rod.
I did sit on one back in 2010. It was at a dealer that had parts I needed. The lack of shifter was... disquieting. Didn't realize it was only 700cc; the thing was bigger than a Goldwing. The dealer snidely told me that "DN-01" stood for "Do Not (buy) 1".
In case you were curious, the video discussed is the very definition of "trying too hard:"
- I prefer to use the words “navigating a corner” when it comes to the DN for the very good reason that being at the helm of a sailboat and riding the DN are very similar activities. The DN has to be forced to turn because of its shallow head angle and then the forks flex and it wallows round with the rider giving a touch of rudder and then easing off again and then another tug at the rudder as the bend is negotiated. On a lake, this is fun but the DN simply emasculates the joy of motorcycle riding and that is unforgivable.
Riding a motorcycle through a corner is one of the great activities in life. It compares favorably to sipping a fine Chardonnay by the river on a warm summer evening; feeling the ski bite the snow as the turn is perfectly initiated and yes, gentle and subtle love making
...I think it's more a harley for pussies. 546lb dry weight, 700cc liquid-cooled V-twin, 40hp(!), automatic transmission. Problem being, at $15k out the door it was priced competitively with a V-rod (122 hp) but had all the glory and guts of a Chevy Cobalt.
This is actually what arguewithatree says all the time too. She asks me why I can't just ogle girls with her and that I do so with bikes instead drives her mad hahaha.
