We’re now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material.
-that's really cool and could have an awesome impact on some people. B_C, I'm curious how you feel about this? You're not a fan of medicine and aren't too keen on technology as a solution. What say thee?
Me thinks that this is not a good idea if we intend on keeping populations within a reasonable number, if people want to stop paying for drugs that treat effects and not causes, and if we have any intention of having interpersonal human contact in the future. But what do I know?
Did you see that BBC programme posted a week or so ago with Hans Rosling? He's a statistician who explained that we've now reached the 'peak child' situation where the world population will primarily keep growing due to people getting older and not due to more children. Do you think it would be better not to advance technology keeping diabetics alive just to keep the earth less full or am I reading this all wrong?if we intend on keeping populations within a reasonable number
Yeah I thought about that too. To be honest, it frightens me just as Glass does.
