This actually seems quite reasonable, and not really a bad thing for bitcoin. I can't imagine a country giving it currency status. Issuing currency a guarded right of the State.

Also, bitcoins have recently been offered as an awesome investment. If it is going to be framed as such, it will be taxed as such. Especially when its value explodes.
