Poems are magic because they are spells designed to create a particular experience for a reader/listener. The writer crafts the poem with intention, but can only guess at what that experience will be: the consumer is not usually known to the writer. Magic is slippery stuff and relies heavily on the human touch to succeed, if at all.
-That's a great way of looking at it.

There is definitely a transformation that can happen after reading a poem. This is a magical process, no doubt about it.

I enjoy your poems Rico, I enjoyed reading your take on poetry too. Great interview!

No problem. I think it's a great interview. Hope you don't mind the (minor) edits I made. It was long. I don't think I really succeeded in making it much shorter, though!

:D I was wondering if it had been edited, because it is still very long. I haven't looked at what I originally sent to you to compare them, but I remember thinking that it was very long then, too.

I cut out a lot of the "I thinks" and "in my view," etc, because I figured - it's an interview! Of course this is what you think! That's the point! (But it is harder to be so definite when speaking oneself.) Most of the actual content is unchanged.
