I like the idea of this, and though the execution shows dedication, I wonder if it will have to escalate and how long the parents intend to do this.

I think that kids need to be bored sometimes though, in order to let their imaginations run wild and wander into strange places. This is cool for sure, but I hope they also have a strategy to get their kids imaginations going independently.

True. Encouraging creative play is a necessity.

My wife and I created the "Toy Fairy" to help around the house. Toys that aren't cleaned up and placed away may be gathered up by the Toy Fairy. She takes toys that are clearly not cared for and passes them on to kids that need them. This can be temporary, or permanent, although she can be written a letter if she "mistakenly" takes a toy that has been left out and neglected. Of course, we did this out of the necessity of getting the kids in the habit of placing things in proper storage each night rather than a fun thing to do. It's a very powerful idea and we do have to be careful. Occasionally my son or daughter will cry out a little while after bed, having realized he/she hadn't put away a favorite toy that evening.

Sounds like a good strategy :)
