Because there isn't anyone living inside this thing, the brick wall can get away without needing much performance i.e. no insulation, no waterproofing, no real structural assurances. I think the brick is probably supported by plywood and lumber. Just a guess though. And I don't even think those are real curtains. It looks like just a flat print of a curtain. The thing about it though that I really love is that little bend at the top of the door. Ever so slightly. It would be cool if it actually opened and had a stair leading to some unknown cavern.

That's pretty cool. I would guess that many people will pass by it and not even notice, which is a testament to how well it fits in to its surroundings.
