The second attempt turned out a bit better.
I tried the alcohol extraction method.
I started by soaking 7 grams of ground cannabis in enough Everclear to totally submerge the bud. Soaked for about 12 hours before heating the mixture slowly to evaporate most of the alcohol.
The process took just less than 2 hours and I ended up with about 5ml of the tincture.
I then mixed it with 40m of a 50/50 mix of VG and PG.
A bit quicker method, and harder to screw up as I used a mason jar instead of a small bowl for a double boiler.
The effect was a bit better that the first attempt. With my high tolerance, using a .2 ohm at 55w vaporizor, it took 6 or 7 hits to feel it slightly. The high did not seem to last very long, 10 minutes or so, however, the calming effects lasted longer that the first attempt. I was able to use this to help sleep and take the edge off of anxiety, but still not near the effect of smoking.
I also learned that soaking the ground herb for longer is preferred and should increase the potency. A lot of people suggest at least a week, some recommend up to a month or more.
I have already planned to soak for at least a week for my next attempt.
I am also still planning on getting some concentrate to mix directly with the PG/VG mix.
