Think of a sound, any sound….the melody of birds, the thunder in a storm, the voices in a café….
A sound is the noise something makes when it moves the air around it, it is a vibration (from movement) traveling through the air to an ear, a microphone or a feeler.
So…thousands of years ago, you decided this was very important…and you grew ears…
because an approaching object, moving through the air…could be moving towards you…
and the cells in the waves did it…and the plants in the sea did it…and the fish on the land did it….
The amazing thing is that this is not a chemical thing…the ear is the only sence that is absolutely reliant on movement….vibrations instead of the stuff of taste.
and the crabs…and the bees….and the snakes and the birds.…∞
and somewhere along the way, we needed to accept each-other, identify with others and work together….
to gather our food and guard our young…for this my feathered friend…is love…
and suddenly there is life.♥
and pain and joy, hope and understanding…
But for us to have come so far, surely we must have heard something? Our first sound? and copied this and changed it’s notes?
I am left wondering if I had heard the sun explode at birth? Or the continents arrive?
I hope there is a chill running through you because the next thing you will be doing is staring with paranoia at the bottle you have taken to..
because if we are to take the words from our mouths to be nothing but ‘hand crafted movements’…and trace ourselves back to some long forgotten receite of matter.
then the water we bathe in and the sand we play in may also talk in some way and think in some way, might also sing…or ‘dance’….
When we are gone and our radios and trumpets are long gone,
there, the dirt that makes this matter, it will still sing.
We should sit still and ask ourselves ‘is this that same first noise or just another din?’
