I have recently seen more and more companies releasing ads stating that they are investing and researching hover technology. Most recently I have seen the Volkswagon ad but there is also Toyota's plans for hover cars and The Hendo Board. My question is: Is hover technology worth the investment? I'm not very scientifically literate but to my understanding I don't see an upside to this technology other than it looks cool. From what I understand you need an aluminum surface underneath for this to work at all and it takes a great deal of energy to work. It also seems that it would have essentially no traction for quick turns or stops. Are there any upsides to Hover technology that I'm not seeing? (Other than the obvious: It would be cool as hell)
