I've hated Autodesk since 1991. That's when I had to learn AutoCAD 10. I'm pretty sure that makes a grudge of mine more senior to some of our readers.
However, they get the problems inherent in 3D printing, and they seem interested in spending a shit-ton of money to solve them. They're investing $100m in supporting 3d printing companies and their printer costs $5k - this isn't some bullshit Makerbot or Candyfab or stupendously janky kickstarter gadget, it's a real piece of kit, that you could use to do real things with. And they've got it aimed squarely at people who want to make money with 3D printing, as opposed to people who want to kick the tires because fyooochur.
It'll be interesting to watch.
