I missed the first half hour of the mead exchange, but I understand it included a toast to b_b's impending nuptials.
The second half hour seemed largely concerned with finding b_b's anti-marriage quotations in the archives and hurling them at b_b, who was imb_bing as b_best he could.
There was also some discussion of the mystery, confusion, and sweetness of mead. From what I could tell ecib was the meadiator. If you had a mead sample, he asked probing questions.
Due to the absence of eightbitsamurai there was no discussion of the mead's fluffiness.
Here's what I learned
You do not have to drink to "listen" in to the hubskidrinkclub IRC.
There is a loose structure which involves gathering information on the drink at hand.
"Adult" content and LOL moments are likely to occur.
Perhaps someone can add a conclusion about mead!
