It will be said of Joe, as it has been said of so many others before him, that he "died doing what he loved." While I understand what motivates this sentiment, I have come to detest the statement. Joe died falling from a mountain, and he did not love falling.

I've always disliked that platitude, so I was glad to see it confronted and dismissed.

Other than that, I don't know if Hubski has many alpinists (or climbers of any sort), but it's always struck me how obituaries and memorial articles for mountaineers consistently leave me with three thoughts. 1) I really never want my friends and family to be reading a similar writeup about me. 2) That inspires me. 3) I wish I could've had a beer with that guy/gal.
