With the recent Muppet movie, there has been a lot of talk of Jim Henson lately which is fine by me! I thought I should remind Hubskiers of what I think is a Jim Henson masterpiece "The Dark Crystal".

In another time, a source of Balance and Truth in the Universe was shattered, dividing the world into the wicked Skeksis and the peaceful Mystics. It's up to Jen—the last of his race—to fulfill the prophecy that a Gelfling will return the missing shard to the Crystal and destroy the Skeksis' evil empire. Designed by fantasy artist Brian Froud, Jim Henson’s groundbreaking masterpiece redefined live-action puppet film.

I started remembering this film for 2 reasons.

1. The Muppets are all the rage right now with their new movie (which is great)

2. I heard Skeksi's mentioned in a Scissor Sisters song "Return to Oz" -Great song. check it out.

Also, if you've not seen the Dark Crystal you ought to. I recently revisited it and it's still amazing as an adult. The puppetry is fantastic and unlike Labyrinth (which is also awesome) it's not plagued with the inclusion of humans. It's pure puppetry!

caio: It's a cool movie with probably Jim Henson's best puppetry ever. It also features Frank Oz, but we all know who his chef d'oeuvre really is. http://tinyurl.com/bmcgl5p
