scarp: Number 10 (front-loading the backstory) and number 14 (unnecessary use of second-person) are some that I really wish more amateur writers were more keen on. Whenever a fiction opens with either of these methods, I'm usually quite certain that it's not worth reading.Interesting article, although a bit untidy and long-winded. It did have some advice that I've intuitively known yet haven't seen elucidated.
