The New Green once played a benefit concert for an organization called Re-member, which raised money to buy and construct bunk-beds for children on the Pine Ridge indian reservation. I was struck at the time by the testimonials of how rough life on the reservation was.

Easy to forget that they are there.

This was a really great video. Thank you for sharing. I lived in rural Montana and went to highschool there. Reservation towns were scattered all around. I played sports and whenever we would play away games in their towns you could see the devastation and poor conditions they would live in. There was an extreme sense of racism on both sides, the white folks versus the natives, and it came out in an ugly way whenever we played them either at home or away. I have tons of stories about things that happened to me while on the reservations and things that I had heard of happening over there, and sadly they all seem tragic in one way or the other. Most people that live near the reservations just avoid those areas altogether and as this video suggests, try to forget they exist even if we lived just a few miles from them. Very tough situation indeed.
